Program Description:

Vincennes University provides a noncredit training program that prepares students for an entry level position in one of the fastest growing healthcare careers. The expanded course includes a new state approved education program which provides students the proper trraining to be a Limtied Dental Radiographer. The purpose of this 102-hour course is to familiarize students with all areas of entry level dental assistingand provide training in the professional skills required to function as an assistant in the dental practice.

51.0601 Dental Assisting/Assistant A program that prepares individuals to provide patient care, take dental radiographs (x-ray photographs), prepare patients and equipment for dental procedures, and discharge office administrative functions under the supervision of dentists and dental hygienists. Includes instruction in medical record-keeping, general office duties, reception and patient intake, scheduling, equipment maintenance and sterilization, basic radiography, pre- and post-operative patient care and instruction, chairside assisting, taking tooth and mouth impressions, and supervised practice.
