Karen Arndt holds a current teaching license in Accounting, Clerical, Vocational Business, and Data Processing as well as a Master's Degree in Secondary Education. In addition to spending her summers as a medical secretary, Karen has completed the CMAA training as well. She has been teaching both children and adults for over 30 years.
This eight-week course provides students with the foundational knowledge they will need to work in a healthcare environment as a Medical Administrative Assistant; this course is designed to prepare students with the technical and employability skills for successful completion of a Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) certification. The course includes modules on: Scheduling, Patient Intake, Office Logistics, Compliance (HIPAA, OSHA, and CMS guidelines), Patient Education, General Office Policies and Procedures, and Basic Medical Terminology.
Must be enrolled as an SBCSC Adult Education student. Admission requirements include the following: NRS Level 4 or higher in Reading and Math (determined by TABE testing).
