QUALIFICATIONS: 5+ Years of Industry Experience. Experience leading and teaching in a shop environmentLICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS: Must be eligible through the Indiana Department of Education for a CTE Trade Industrial: Welding 5-12, or Workplace Specialist: Welding 9-12 licensure. If pursuing the Workplace Specialist Licensure, candidate must have verifiable occupational experience in a related field meeting 6,000 hours (3 years experience) in the last five years OR 4,000 hours in the past 10 years with one of the following: Welding Certifications Completion of an accredited 2-year or higher degree in the specific certification area Completion of an apprenticeship or internship program
INTRO TO GMAW: Our training sessions are meticulously planned by our Instructor and are designed in a manner geared toward the maximization of efficiency. Your training will be conducted by one of our trainers over 9 total sessions. Please note, the instructor may change course objectives to match the pace and overall performance of the class. Training sessions will be comprised of both activities and lectures that will touch upon the following subjects: PROGRAM OUTLINE: Week 1: Course Introduction and General Safety In this class we will introduce ourselves talk about what will be expected in this class start our tour of the shop. In this class we will cover general shop safety following OSHA guidelines. Week 2: Equipment Set-Up and Control Review equipment and set up and how different variables affect the weld. Learn machine maintenance Learn typical maintenance guidelines Shielding gases and regulation equipment. Week 3: Surfacing Welds To properly adjust the power source settings, start the arc, manipulate the gun, and read the puddle, in order to make quality welds with the surfacing technique in the flat position. Week 4: Square Groove, Fillet Welds, Butt, Lap and T-Joints Flat Position To produce quality square groove and fillet welds in the flat position. Week 5: Square Groove, Fillet Welds, Butt, Lap and T-Joints Horizontal Position To produce quality square groove and fillet welds in the horizontal position. Week 6: The Quality of Welds The objective of this class is to discuss the GMAW process variables and their effect on the quality of welds. Week 7: T-Joint Certification Overview Review certification procedures and why it is important to be certified Week 8: Certification Practice Practice Certification Week 9: Certification Practice Practice Certification Week 10: Certification Test Meet at Sutton Garten on the Date/Time the test is scheduled!
