An instructor must be a certified NCCER Construction Craft Laborer Instructor with current certification at the level he/she is teaching. To maintain NCCER Instructor certification, instructors must have Registration of Training Modules approved by NCCER before ICTP expiration (certification will be extended 3 years from the completion date on Registration of Training Modules). All instructors have 15 years or more of experience at the journeyman level or above and/or are licensed general contractors.
Carpentry Level One content includes: Orientation to the Trade; Building Materials, Fasteners, and Adhesives; Hand and Power Tools; Introduction to Construction Drawings, Specifications, and Layout; Floor Systems; Wall Systems; Ceiling Joist and Roof Framing; Basic Stair Layout; Introduction to Building Envelope Systems.This is a non-apprenticeship program model.
CORE is a prerequisite of this course. Experienced Craft Tradesman may test out of CORE with a passing score of 70 and documented work experience.
