Program Instructor will meet NCCER's instructor requirements and possess at least one of the following:- Experience at a minimum journey- or technician-level (at least 4 years) in the specific craft they wish to be certified to teach OR- A minimum of three years’ experience as a certified teacher in a vocational/technical construction or maintenance-related training program in the specific craft they wish to be certified to teach.Program Instructor is certified through NCCER.
Goodwill Industries of Michiana, the Associated Builders and Contractors,and Habitat for Humanity of Elkhart County will partner on this course. Goodwill Industries of Michiana staff will provide instruction of the NCCER course material and student support. Habitat for Humanity will provide build sites for the students to get hands-on experience each week during the course. The course instructor will remain in consistent communication with Habitat to ensure instructional material aligns with tasks students will complete at the build. The Associated Builders and Contractors will provide safety training including OSHA-10 for students enrolled in the course. Construction companies associated with ABC will be invited to a job fair that ABC hosts to connect program graduates with local employers. The NCCER Core Curriculum includes written exams and student performance profiles to assess skills learned. Skills will be practiced in the classroom as well as one day a week at Habitat for Humanity builds.
