Standards for programs in Transportation, Supply Chain and LogisticsA qualified faculty member teaching meets the course standards through one of three routes:• Meets the Supply Chain Management Program Standard, or• Possesses an active Commercial Driver’s License with a minimum of two years commercial driving experience, or• Two or more years of in-field professional employment directly related to the course objectives identified on the Course Outline of Record (COR) including working directly with CDL candidates previously with a licensed CDL training entity.
Students will have 160 hours of training, which prepares students to become Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) holders. A combination of operating observation/lab classroom and behind-the-wheel skill development. This course provides a fundamental working knowledge of the varied aspects of the trucking industry. It prepares students for an entry-level position as a tractor-trailer driver with a trucking company. Students will become familiar with the industry's rules and regulations and experience hands-on driving techniques designed to prepare them to pass the written successfully and practical portions of the State of Indiana's Class A CDL test.
