The Jeremi College Cybersecurity Specialist is designed to prepare students for entering into an early-career as a cybersecurity professional. The course combines two CompTIA certification training offerings; Network+ and Security+, to ensure that students not only gain the skills and certification they need, but also in-depth knowledge of what it takes to work in the field on day 1 due to the work-based learning component.
CompTIA Network + is a globally recognized industry sector certification that helps you to establish a career in IT. Skills you will learn networking concepts including network services, physical connections, topologies and architecture, and cloud connectivity. You will gain skills pertaining to Network implementation, operations, security and troubleshooting.
CompTIA Security+ is a global certification that will help you launch a successful cybersecurity career. According to CompTIA, more job roles use Security+ for baseline cybersecurity skills than any other certification in the industry.
The program’s duration is 24 weeks, 600 clock hours split into 3 parts; the first part, which is 300 clock hours, and 12-week duration covers topics on Network+ exam ranging from basic networking concepts including network services, physical connections, topologies and architecture, and cloud connectivity; routing technologies and networking devices; deploy ethernet solutions and configure wireless technologies; Network operations and security including troubleshooting Networks. Students attend exam practice sessions and take the Network+ exam.
The second part of the program is work based learning where students are enrolled into a 4-week, 80 clock hours Network Field Technician work after the 6th week of Network+. They complete their internship before starting the third part of the program, Security+. Security+ is a 12-week, 220 clock hours component of the Cybersecurity Specialist program that will prepare students to take the CompTIA Security+ certification exams. It covers a range of topics including key cybersecurity terminology and concepts, Threats, Vulnerabilities & Mitigations, Security architecture, operations and management.
