Program Description:

Emergency Medical Technicians provide out-of-hospital emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients who access the emergency medical services (EMS) system. EMTs have the basic knowledge and skills necessary to stabilize and safely transport patients ranging from non-emergency and routine medical transports to life-threatening emergencies. Emergency Medical Technicians function as part of a comprehensive EMS response system under medical oversight. Emergency Medical Technicians perform interventions with the basic equipment typically found on an ambulance.

51.0904 Emergency Medical Technology/Technician (EMT Paramedic) A program that prepares individuals, under the remote supervision of physicians, to recognize, assess, and manage medical emergencies in prehospital settings and to supervise Ambulance personnel. Includes instruction in basic, intermediate, and advanced EMT procedures; emergency surgical procedures; medical triage; rescue operations; crisis scene management and personnel supervision; equipment operation and maintenance; patient stabilization, monitoring, and care; drug administration; identification and preliminary diagnosis of diseases and injuries; communication and computer operations; basic anatomy, physiology, pathology, and toxicology; and professional standards and regulations.

High School Diploma or Equivalent

Prerequisites Description:

First-level background check, including a 10-panel drug screen.

CPR Certification is required within the first month of the training program starting.

Refund Policy:

REFUND POLICY: Students are required to pay all their tuition and fees for any registered course unless enrollment is officially cancelled before the start of class by the MAAC. If a student does cancel before the start of classes, 100% of tuition and fees will be refunded minus the credit or banking processing fees of $45.00. If the student withdraws or cancels enrollment during the first week (7 days from the start of class), only 50% of tuition minus credit card and bank processing and fees of $45.00 will be refunded. Withdrawal or cancellation occurs on the calendar day the withdrawal is requested online or in person at the MAAC.
