Wayne Township Adult Education (WTAE) requires our faculty members to be a Sterile Processing Technician, registered with HSPA, and hold a CRCST certification with six years of experience in the field.
The Wayne Township Adult Education program was developed to give students a foundational knowledge of the Sterile Device Processing Technician career pathway. It includes in class instruction from Central Service Technician Manual course textbooks with in class skills labs and competency check offs. It also includes online study materials through HSPA. Students also complete WIN Essential Soft Skills and OSHA-10 Healthcare certificates. The program partners with multiple hospitals for clinical experiences for 40 hours per student each semester.
The program prerequisites: 1) Ability to pass a 10 panel drug screen and a criminal background check 2) Completion of all required vaccinations by week 9. 3) TABE testing results of level M4 for reading and math 4) Participation in a placement interview to discuss success planning, program expectations, and commitments.
Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis at adulted.info/career. It is highly recommended to submit an application as early as possible due to competitive enrollment. Applications for fall classes open in May and close in August, while applications for the spring classes open in October and close in January. Please know that classes are seated on a competitive basis for candidates who meet screening standards and complete the interview process. Applicants who are not offered enrollment may apply again for the next semester of classes.
