Qualifications of Instructors:

Our instructors must have a least 2 years experience in the dental field and a current Limited Dental Radiographic license issued by the Indiana Department of Health.

Program Description:

The hybrid dental assisting course will run ten (10) consecutive weeks, for a total of eighty (80) clock hours of instruction. This will include 40 hours of lecture material delivered through the online platform Canvas, and 40 hours of in-person clinical "hands-on" training. Each week, students will complete the assigned online learning modules at their convenience prior to the associated clinical session. Technical and instructional support for the online modules will be provided to the students as needed by our administration team.

Each clinical session is held inside a practicing dental office, and students will be using hands-on learning with dental office equipment. Students receive training from experienced dental professionals in ALL aspects of general dental assisting, including dental specialties and radiography training. Accelerated Academy will provide Basic Life Support CPR instruction on the first day of class, a certification that will be needed as a Dental Assistant. Job interview preparation and coaching is available to students and is also included in the cost of tuition. Students who successfully complete the course will receive a certificate of completion. There is an Xray portion of the program, and we are approved by the Indiana Dept of Health, to be an approved provider; however, students still must pass the national RHS (Radiation Health and Safety exam) and apply for licensure with the Indiana Department of Health if they want to operate radiographs.

51.0601 Dental Assisting/Assistant A program that prepares individuals to provide patient care, take dental radiographs (x-ray photographs), prepare patients and equipment for dental procedures, and discharge office administrative functions under the supervision of dentists and dental hygienists. Includes instruction in medical record-keeping, general office duties, reception and patient intake, scheduling, equipment maintenance and sterilization, basic radiography, pre- and post-operative patient care and instruction, chairside assisting, taking tooth and mouth impressions, and supervised practice.

Prerequisites Description:

Students will apply online at www.acceleratedacademy.us.Students will work with an Admissions Representative to ensure they meet the minimum entrance requirements. Enrollment is not complete until all required documents are submitted by the student. Accelerated Academy has the right to terminate a student’s enrollment if they do not provide the required documentation in the agreed upon timeframe. The course is only taught in English. The following requirements are necessary to enroll in the dental assisting course offered by Accelerated Academy:

Age Requirement:

A person must be 18 years of age or older.

Educational Requirement:

A person must have successfully completed high school or have completed a high school equivalency course and provide one of the following at the time of enrollment*:

Copy of High School Diploma or Official High School Transcript
Copy of General Educational Development (GED)
Copy of High School Equivalency Test (HiSET)

*Students must provide the required proof of education within 14 days or Accelerated Academy will terminate the student’s enrollments (refund policy applies).

Technology requirement:

Students are required to have a working computer and reliable internet access, and should have basic operating knowledge of a computer. The lecture portion of this course is taught online through the Learning Managements Software, Canvas. Students will review online modules, lectures, course material, and complete all assignments in Canvas. Students have access to all academic records including grades, progress, transcripts, and if successful in the program, their certificate of completion.

Clinical Session Materials:

Students are required to bring either a laptop, tablet, or smartphone to EVERY clinical session in order to complete the weekly clinical session skill check assignment. If the student would like to take any additional notes during a clinical session, they are encouraged to bring a folder, notepad, pen, pencil, or other materials to support the in-person learning experience.

Criminal History:

Criminal history may affect a student’s future ability to be hired in the dental field as every employer has different requirements. Accelerated Academy has the right to refuse enrollment due to criminal history.
