The electrocardiography technician program provides students with an introduction to the cardiovascular anatomy, relations of other body systems to heart health, legal and ethical consideration, patient assessment techniques, the process of how to administer and document ECG with proper lead placement, and basic interpretation of ECG tracings. This program will cover aspects of different types of cardiovascular testing such as Holter testing, stress testing, HIPAA requirements, how to document completed procedures, and how to instruct patients to seek medical attention when abnormal test results occur. Completion of this program will give students the ability to sit for the EKG certification exam.
