The purpose of the Certified Nurse Aide Training Program in Indiana is to prepare the Nurse Aide to provide high quality, direct patient care under the supervision of licensed nurse personnel.
The basic course consists of a minimum of 30 hours of lecture, theory, reading, testing and a minimum of 75 hours of supervised practical training. Supervised practical training means training in a laboratory or other setting in which the trainee demonstrates knowledge while performing a task on an individual under the direct supervision of a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse.
This course will cover all topics found in the Indiana Nurse Aide Curriculum. This program has a MINIMUM of 105 clock hours of instruction. Of these hours, 30 are classroom and 75 will be spent in clinical practice at a nursing facility and lab instruction.
Applicants must be at least 16 years of age for admission to this program. No one will be allowed to complete the program if they are listed on the Indiana Nurse Aide Abuse Registry. All applicants must provide proof of a current (within the last 12 months) Tuberculin PPD skin test (or equivalent) on or before the first day of clinical practice. The course is taught in the English language and all written materials are printed in the English language. No translation services are provided by the school.
