Bachelor`s degree
The purpose of the training is to help employees prepare for the Childhood Development Associate® certification, which is needed by licensed early childcare facilities for accreditation. Adult education & literacy training will help employees develop the reading and language skills they need for professional writing skills needed as early childhood educators. As part of this collaboration, employers will recruit and refer incumbent employees to participate in the training. Participants in the training will be employed during training. The Indiana Association for the Education of Young Children (INAEYC), which is the statewide professional association for early childhood education employees and employers, will provide the occupational skills training, portfolio review, and onsite work evaluation as part of the credentialing process. The adult education program will provide the employability skills training through the WIN Essential Soft Skills Courseware. The adult educator will also provide adult literacy skills instruction as support to the employees as they write their CDA Professional Portfolios for their credentialing requirements. The training will help employers improve their employees’ workplace skills by enabling them learn the occupational skills needed in their jobs as early childhood educators and begin preparing them to study for the Childhood Development Associate® credential. This credential is required of employers for agency accreditation. Adult literacy skills in reading and language will enable employees to learn professional writing skills needed by early childhood educators and begin assembling the portfolios required for the CDA® credential.
