Qualifications of Instructors:

Medical Imaging Program Faculty Standard

A qualified faculty member or clinical coordinator in the Medical Imaging program meets all four of the following criteria:

Possesses an earned baccalaureate or higher degree, from a regionally accredited institution, and
Has two years of directly related work experience, and
Holds the credential from American Registry of Radiologic Technologists RT (R)
Holds Indiana Department of Health general certification.

Program Description:

Ivy Tech's Medical Imaging Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree program includes radiologic technology courses in:

Technique
Exposure
Positioning
Protection
Physics
Patient care
Ethics

Radiologic technologists must complete an accredited educational program, demonstrate moral fitness, and pass an AART exam. The Medical Imaging AAS program has limited admission.

Students must earn the AAS degree and pass the AART exam to pursue any of the Ivy Tech Medical Imaging certificates.

51.0911 Radiologic Technology/Science - Radiographer A program that prepares individuals, under the supervision of physicians, to provide medical imaging services to patients and attending health care professionals. Includes instruction in applied anatomy and physiology, patient positioning, radiographic technique, radiation biology, safety and emergency procedures, equipment operation and maintenance, quality assurance, patient education, and medical imaging/radiologic services management.
