Qualifications of Instructors:

All instructors provided by our training partner INAEYC will meet or exceed one of the following three qualifications:

1. Master's Degree in early childhood, Child Development, or Preschool Special Education with 3 years' experience in an early childhood setting;

2. Master's Degree in a related field of education with a CDA certification;

3. Master's Degree in a related field with 3 years teaching experience in an early childhood setting.

Further, all Professional Development Advising staff must hold a B.A.or B.S. or advanced degree in Early Childhood, Child Development, or related field with 3 years' experience working directly with children as a teacher, child life worker, social worker, or similar role and 1 year of responsibilyt for the professional growth of another adult.

Program Description:

The CDA training will take place twice/year, once in the Fall and once in the Spring. The course lasts for 14 weeks with classes meeting 3 times per week in the evenings for 3 hours. Two of those weekly classes will be virtual over Zoom, and one class per week will be conducted in-person at LARA. The INAEYC will provide the Early Childhood instructor and LARA will provide the Adult Ed instructor. Classes will incorporate the WIN Essential Softskills Courseware into the content, resulting in a thorough training for participants.

19.0706 Child Development A program that focuses on the intellectual, social, emotional, and biological development of children and the planning and design of related human services. Includes instruction in parent-child relations, parenting practices, special needs of children, parental and environmental influences on child development, external support services, and related public policy issues.

High School Diploma or Equivalent

Prerequisites Description:

Students must be atleast 18 years old, and Indiana residents. They must also be employed at childcare facilities and earn less that $25/hour.

Application Deadlines:

There are no application deadlines. We are planning to offer this course twice per year, the first beginning in September, 2025. The application cutoff dates will be in place for timely enrollment into classes.
