Program Description:

The Certified Pharmacy Technician Program at Gifted Hands Academy Allied school is a comprehensive post-secondary education certificate program designed to equip individuals with the skills necessary to excel in the field of pharmacy technician. Pharmacy Technician play a crucial role in healthcare by assisting licensed pharmacists in delivering medications and healthcare services to patients. This comprehensive 96 hour course is designed to introduce students to the various settings in pharmacy practice, such as community, hospital, managed care, mail order, and long-term care. The program aims to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their roles as pharmacy technicians. This program includes 96 didactic hours 8 of those hours including CPR/FIRST for health care professionals and 80-hour externship prior to sitting for the NHA EXAM. This program aims to prepare students for a career as working as a certified pharmacy technician and working toward a rewarding career in Allied Health.

The Role of the Pharmacy Technician

Pharmacy technicians perform numerous duties like pharmacists. However, all work performed by technicians must be reviewed and approved by a pharmacist before dispensing medication to patients. This program will help students understand the responsibilities and limitations of a pharmacy technician's role.

51.0805 Pharmacy Technician/Assistant A program that prepares individuals, under the supervision of pharmacists, to prepare medications, provide medications and related assistance to patients, and manage pharmacy clinical and business operations. Includes instruction in medical and pharmaceutical terminology, principles of pharmacology and pharmaceutics, drug identification, pharmacy laboratory procedures, prescription interpretation, patient communication and education, safety procedures, record-keeping, measurement and testing techniques, pharmacy business operations, prescription preparation, logistics and dispensing operations, and applicable standards and regulations.

Refund Policy:

IC 22-4.1-21-15 and IC 22-4.1-21-18 requires each educational institution accredited by the Office for Career and Technical Schools to submit an institutional surety bond and contribute to the Career College Student Assurance Fund which will be used to pay off debt incurred due to the closing of a school, discontinuance of a program, or loss of accreditation by an institution. To file a claim, each student must submit a completed “Student Complaint Form.” This form can be found on OCTS’s website at http://www.in.gov/dwd/2731.htm.
