Program faculty must have relevant pharmacy industry experience and hold an active pharmacy technician certification, pharmacy technician registration, pharmacy intern license, pharmacist license, or another appropriate pharmacy-related credential. Faculty must also demonstrate knowledge and experience in the instructional areas assigned.
Rooted Health Institute’s 16-week Pharmacy Technician Training Program prepares students for entry-level employment in community, hospital, long-term-care, specialty, mail-order, and other pharmacy settings. The 304.25-hour program includes 144.25 hours of online didactic and simulation-based instruction and 160 hours of required in-person experiential training. Students complete self-paced online modules, recorded instruction, assignments, pharmacy calculations, medication safety activities, prescription-processing exercises, and weekly live virtual instructor support. The curriculum covers pharmacy law, pharmacology, medical terminology, insurance billing, inventory management, sterile and nonsterile compounding concepts, patient communication, and pharmacy operations. Graduates are prepared to pursue national pharmacy technician certification and perform entry-level duties under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
Applicants must have a high school diploma, GED, or recognized equivalent. Applicants must also meet all admissions requirements established by Rooted Health Institute, including submission of required enrollment documents and completion of the admissions process. Students participating in an externship may be required to satisfy additional site-specific requirements, such as a background check, drug screening, immunization records, CPR certification, and other healthcare compliance documentation.
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until the cohort reaches capacity. Applicants are encouraged to apply at least two weeks before the scheduled program start date to allow time for enrollment processing and completion of required documentation.
