A Radiolgic Technologist, also called a radiographer, is a skilled technical assistant to the Radiologist. The radiographer assists the physician in making a diagnosis through the performance of many types of imaging examinations. The radiographer is respondible for the mental and physical well-being of the paitient while in the care of the radiographer. The radiographer works in various types of imaging settings: hospital, doctor office, clinic, surgery center, etc.This program includes instruction in operating x-ray equipment, selection of correct technical factors, positioning the patient, analyzing the resultant image, radiation safety, imaging pathologies, introductionj to computerized tomography and sectional anatomy, and patient care.
1. Assoc degree or higher or prerequisite courses taken from Ivy Tech 2. college level courses: 22-33 credit hrs depending on institution that will grant associate degree upon completion of program Example of required courses: college algebra, composition and communication, anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, behavioral science Intro to physics (HS or college level)Ivy Tech hasspecific requirements as described on program web page.3. Eligible applicants must undergo an interview for acceptance to the program.
