All SWIHSA CNA program faculty are licensed Registered Nurses (RNs) in good standing and possess the qualifications required to provide instruction in Indiana state-approved Nurse Aide Training Programs. Faculty maintain current nursing licensure and bring professional healthcare experience that supports delivery of high-quality CNA education aligned with state and industry standards.
The SWIHSA Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Program is a hybrid training program that combines online learning, classroom instruction, hands-on skills practice, and supervised clinical experience in a long-term care setting. Students develop the knowledge and skills needed to provide safe, compassionate patient care, including vital signs, personal care, infection control, communication, safety, and professionalism. Upon successful completion of the program, students are eligible to take the Indiana State Nurse Aide competency exam and pursue employment in long-term care facilities, hospitals, assisted living facilities, and other healthcare settings. The program also provides a strong foundation for students interested in advancing to nursing and other healthcare careers.
Students enrolled in the SWIHSA CNA program must complete a TB screening, physical examination, criminal background check, and drug screening prior to participating in clinical experiences. As required by partnering clinical facilities, students may also be required to provide proof of vaccination or an approved exemption.
Applications are typically due two weeks before the start of each class and are accepted until the program is full.
