A.S. degree in healthcare or related field, LPN, or Certification in related field.
This noncredit program prepares medical assistant students to perform patient clinical skills in the medical office setting. Students perform clinical procedures including administering medications, assisting with minor surgery, performing an electrocardiogram, obtaining laboratory specimens for testing, educating patients, and maintaining clinical equipment in an ambulatory care setting. Medical assistants perform routine clinical tasks to keep the offices of physicians, podiatrists, chiropractors, and optometrists running smoothly.
High School diploma or GED. Will also allow those students working on GED to enroll. Must complete GED before end of course. The student can sit for the certification exam without a GED but it will be provisional until the student gets the GED.
