Qualifications of Instructors:

A qualified faculty member meets the education component of the School of Technology discipline standard through one of three routes:

· Possesses an earned baccalaureate or higher degree, from a regionally accredited institution in technology, engineering, engineering technology; or an earned baccalaureate or higher degree directly related to the program’s discipline. And, possesses any specialized certifications required for the class being taught as indicated in the Curriculum of Record (COR) And, two years of directly related work experience that is specifically linked to the competencies listed in the Curriculum of Record (COR); or

o Possesses an earned baccalaureate or higher degree, from a regionally accredited institution And, possesses any specialized certifications required for the class being taught as indicated in the Curriculum of Record (COR) And five years of directly related work experience that is specifically linked to the competencies listed in the Curriculum of Record (COR); or

o Possesses an earned associate or higher degree, from a regionally accredited institution directly related to the program’s discipline And, possesses any specialized certifications required for the class being taught as indicated in the Curriculum of Record (COR) And three years of directly related work experience that is specifically linked to the competencies listed in the Curriculum of Record (COR);

· Possesses a Department of Labor, Bureau for Apprenticeship Training recognized journeyman’s card in the discipline directly related to credentials, certifications, and competencies listed in the Curriculum of Record (COR), and in journeyman status for two years or more with experience that is specifically linked to the competencies listed in the Curriculum of Record (COR) And, possesses any specialized certifications required for the class being taught as indicated in the Curriculum of Record (COR); or

o Possesses any specialized certifications or credentials required for the class being taught as indicated in the Curriculum of Record (COR). And, 5 years directly related work experience in the field that is specifically linked to the competencies listed in the Curriculum of Record (COR);

Possesses a current Workplace Specialist License granted by the Indiana Department of Education appropriate to course objectives and directly linked to credentials, certifications, and competencies listed in the Curriculum of Record (COR) And, possesses any specialized certifications required for the class being taught as indicated in the Curriculum of Record (COR)

Program Description:

Welding Certification Prep (AWS) provides students with hands-on training and the opportunity to attempt an American Welding Society (AWS) certification, equipping them with the essential skills to pursue a career as a Production Welder. This course covers key welding arc processes, including GMAW, SMAW, FCAW, and GTAW. Students will develop proficiency in welding techniques across all positions and work with various metal thicknesses to build industry-ready expertise.

*****Note: This class may be completed in 3-10 weeks. There is 5-week course option with the same instructional hours.

15.0614 Welding Engineering Technology/Technician A program that prepares individuals to apply basic engineering principles and technical skills to the design and engineering of welding and joining systems and the implementation of welding processes. Includes instruction in materials science; computer-aided design; welding design; welding processes; welding metallurgy; automation and robotics; and codes, inspections, testing, and quality assurance.

Prerequisites Description:

Basic proficiency or readiness in developmental English and Math.
Valid OSHA-10 (General Industry) or completion of the course safety orientation during Day 1
Capability to stand, bend, and lift 35 lb while wearing PPE
Ability to use basic hand tools and read an inch/metric ruler
Recommended (not required): Three–six months of fabricating, maker-space, or high-school metals experience
