Excellent interpersonal skills with adult students; expertise in teaching CNC operator skills; ability to report to work as assigned; knowledge of skills required to pass the NIMS certification tests; knowledge of the best practices in career and technical education. NIMS Certified Instructor with at least 3 + years of experience.
Our program prepares individuals to successfully achieve the competencies needed to obtain NIMS certification for CNC Mill Operation Machining Level 1. The instruction focuses on the following areas: applied mathematics; cutting tool assembly; geometrical dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T); inspection and machine maintenance; machine safety; machining applications and measurements; operations; print reading and shop safety. Students will be expected to apply technical knowledge and skills to operate computer numerically controlled (CNC) machines with precision measuring tools and related attachments and accessories. Students will also be taught to perform machining functions, such as cutting, drilling, shaping, and finishing parts. Course includes instruction and practice utilizing a HAAS simulator, CNC terminology, and current regulations and laws that apply to the Machining Industry.
1) High school diploma/GED/HSE diploma or 2) current enrollment and regular attendance in Adult Basic Education classes with TABE reading and math score at 9.0+.
Must become enrolled at least one day before the scheduled start of class.
