A.A.S. 3 to 5 years as EKG technician
This 44 hour program will prepare you to become an EKG technician, which involves monitoring and recording electrical impulses transmitted by the heart. This course includes theory, hands on labs and practice with EKG equipment, and prepares you to take the NHA CET exam (National Healthcare Association Certified EKG Technician). This course includes important practice and background information on anatomy and physiology of the heart, medical disease processes, medical terminology, medical ethics, and legal aspects of patient contact, electrocardiography, and stress testing. You will also learn to monitor a patient’s cardiac function in a critical care or emergency room setting. Gain the knowledge and skills to learn to assist doctors and nurses by recognizing and reporting changes in a patient’s heart function. This 44 hour course will be conducted in 11 week class sessions with the option of day or evening classes. Classes meet one day per week, from 9am – 1pm for 11 consecutive weeks
