Instructors hold a bachelor or master's degree in Early Childhood, Child Development or Special Education with experience in early childhood teacher credentialing.

Program Description:

This course prepares those seeking opportunities to work in early childhood education to meet children’s physical, social, emotional and intellectual growth. The Child Development Associate Credential™ is the most widely recognized credential in early childhood education and is a key step in early childhood education’s professional development. This course will equip students with the skills to meet children's individual needs and enhance the overalll quality of care and educaiton. The CDA course includes 120 clock-hours of face-to-face training taught by instructors contracted by INAEYC. Students will also be able to develop a professional portfolio and receive assistance with preparing for the final exam and credentialing process.

Includes instruction in parent-child relations, parenting practices, special needs of children, parental and environmental influences on child development, external support services, and related public policy issues.

Prerequisites Description:

11/12 TABE testing
Be a resident of Indiana who is at least 18 years old.
Hold a High School Diploma OR High School Equivalency Diploma
Be employed in a licensed, registered, or certified early care and education setting,
Work 25 or more hours per week in Indiana for at least 6 months
Earn $25.00/hr or less as a teacher/teacher assistant, OR $25.00/hr or less as a director/administrator
Have a current Criminal History/Background check on file with the state of Indiana to be in compliance with licensing rules and regulations.
