AWS - CWI, CWE or practical experience of not less than two years in the major area they are assigned to teach and professional licensure or industry-recognized certification in the field.
This course provides students in gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) or TIG (tungsten inert gas) welding processes. Topical areas of study include: gases used in GTA Welding; AWS Color and ID Code for Tungsten electrodes; AWS visual acceptance criteria for weldments; understanding the effects of DCEN, DCEP, and AC current on electrode life, surface cleaning and weld characteristics,and specialized shielding gases used in the GTAW process. Students will be instructed in welding safety, potential welding hazards and the necessity of proper PPE.
