Program Description:
Registered nurses who have completed an associate degree or diploma from a program that is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) may apply for admission to the RN to BSN program and earn a baccalaureate in nursing. NLNAC candidacy application is in process. The program is designed to provide professional registered nurses the opportunity to achieve advancement in their careers and seek leadership and management roles in the health care setting. The didactic nursing courses will be offered on campus and the clinical experiences will be in various health care settings.

51.3801 Registered Nursing/Registered Nurse A program that generally prepares individuals in the knowledge, techniques and procedures for promoting health, providing care for sick, disabled, infirmed, or other individuals or groups. Includes instruction in the administration of medication and treatments, assisting a physician during treatments and examinations, Referring patients to physicians and other health care specialists, and planning education for health maintenance.

Prerequisites Description:
All applicants must meet the following basic admission requirements.- Meet admission requirements of the University.- Complete the appropriate placement test requirements (only required for applicants without math and English credit).- Possess physical and mental health acceptable for performance in the occupation as evidenced by examination by a licensedpractitioner.- Possess an unencumbered Registered Nurse license prior to beginning any nursing course with a clinical component andmaintain licensure in state of clinical practicum.- Complete 30 credit hours of the ASN Core Courses (see below).- Attain a minimum GPA of 2.5 from an accredited associate degree nursing program or diploma program in nursing. Amaximum of 34 credit hours of nursing from an accredited associate degree or diploma program will be applied to the RN toBSN Program.- Applicants with grades less than C in required general education courses are not eligible for admission. Required generaleducation courses may only be repeated one time in order to raise the grade to a C or better. This includes prerequisites torequired courses.- Hold no grade of F in any nursing course.- Take the NCLEX exam before August 5 prior to the first semester.Note: Transfer students who are licensed Registered Nurses within six hours of completing the requirements in #5 above, and arein good academic standing, may apply to the RN to BSN Completion Program.Note: Admission to the University does not ensure admission to the nursing program. The number of students admitted is limitedby the availability of instructional resources and clinical learning sites. Each applicant is reviewed individually. Any falsificationof application information will result in denial of admission or removal from the program.Once students are admitted to the program and prior to the date set by the Nursing Department, students are responsible forcompleting the following requirements:- Provide proof of current CPR certification as mandated by the Nursing Department.- Provide proof of immunity as mandated by the Nursing Department and the clinical practicum agency including, but notlimited to, flu, varicella, measles, and tuberculosis.- Provide proof of Hepatitis B inoculation or refusal thereof.- Assume responsibility for personal health care costs; therefore, students are strongly urged to maintain health insurancecoverage.- Provide other requirements as mandated by the clinical practicum agency including, but not limited to, criminal history anddrug screening.- Maintain access to a computer with Microsoft Office and the Internet.Note: A fee for liability insurance will be charged to all nursing students through the University Bursars Office.
