RN, BSN and CDP (Certified Dementia Practitioner)
This program offers an approved curriculum by the Indiana State Department of Health required to obtain your Certified Nursing Assistant license. It also includes Dementia specific education on techniques for care and communication and the Home Health Aide curriculum for students who would like to become a professional carer in home settings as well as assisted living settings. There are 3 tiers of education and curriculum to encourage students to continue their careers in healthcare. These 3 tiers allow for additional education for students to explore different healthcare careers while at the same time receiving most current dementia education to be able to lessen the burnout when working with our aging population in long term care, where they will encounter up to 90% of the residents or clients living with dementia.
Students will have to pass 3 one page tests that indicate a 10th grade edcuation level per ISDH guidelines. High school diploma is not needed.
Classes are held monthly and dates will be posted as classes near. Due to this, applications will be accepted year round.
While we do not offer "financial aid" we can offer this program at no cost to eligible students as a scholarship and to take their first test free of charge paid for by IU Health Foundation Scholarship. Costs of the program can be covered by the IU Health Foundation and other community partners depending on the funding available at the time.The students who are eligible to receive a scholarship may have to pay the additional $75.00 testing fee if they fail the first test and need to take it additional times.
