Qualifications of Instructors:

Instructors must be certified welders in all three positions, Vertical, Horizontal and Flat Level. Instructors must have a High School Diploma or HSE. Instructors must pass crimininal background checks.

Program Description:

This class is designed to prepare student to gain the necessary skills to pass the norizontal, vertical and flat level American Welding Society Certification Exam. Students will attend a 12 week course with the first 6 weeks focusing on Flux Core MIG Welding and the second 6 weeks focusing on TIG Welding two evenings per week to learn arc welding, cutting, grinding, safety, structural designing and applying codes and standards in the welding industry. Each student will be provided with safety gear and tools of their own to begin employment upon completion.

48.0508 Welding Technology/Welder A program that prepares individuals to apply technical knowledge and skills to join or cut metal surfaces. Includes instruction in arc welding, resistance welding, brazing and soldering, cutting, high-energy beam welding and cutting, solid state welding, ferrous and non-ferrous materials, oxidation-reduction reactions, welding metallurgy, welding processes and heat treating, structural design, safety, and applicable codes and standards.

Students must score a minimum of 501 in Math and a minimum of 519 in Reading on the TABE Assessment.
