An instructor must be a certified NCCER Construction Craft Laborer Instructor with current certification at the level he/she is teaching. To maintain NCCER Instructor certification, instructors must have Registration of Training Modules approved by NCCER before ICTP expiration (certification will be extended 3 years from the completion date on Registration of Training Modules). All instructors have 15 years or more of experience at the journeyman level or above and/or are licensed general contractors.
This course covers the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) Electrical Level I certification modules required for all of the NCCER curriculum-area programs, and an additional green module. The course content includes orientation to the electrical trade, electrical safety, introduction to electrical circuits, electrical theory, introduction to the National Electrical Code, device boxes, hand bending, and raceways and fittings. The additional Green module, Weatherization, has been added to introduce students to the economic and environmental effects of the inefficient use of energy in heating and cooling structures. Also, it will help students better understand their personal impacts on the environment.This is a non-apprenticeship program model.
We strongly encouragethat our participants are ready, willing, and able to join the workforce. We will assist with obtaining GED/HSE and work with participants that may have been justice-involved. We have an extensive resource network that may be engaged to ensure our participants receive the wrap-around and life skills that are needed to be successful.
