Qualifications of Instructors:

An instructor must be a certified NCCER Electrical Craft Instructor with current certification at the level he or she is teaching. To maintain NCCER Instructor certification, instructors must have Registration of Training Modules approved by NCCER before ICTP expiration (certification will be extended 3 years from the completion date on Registration of Training Modules).

Program Description:

NCCER credentials provide students with immediate credibility among hiring executives in construction, manufacturing, maritime and all related industry sectors, giving certified students an advantage in attaining entry-level employment. Electricians install electrical systems in structures; they install wiring and other electrical components, such as circuit breaker panels, switches, and light fixtures, and they follow blueprints, the National Electrical Code® and state and local codes. Helper IBC#: 199 Completion of Electrician’s Helper demonstrates the student has some basic electrical skills including Orientation to the Electrical Trade; Electrical Safety and Theory, Introduction to Electrical Circuits and National Electrical Code®, Device Boxes, Hand Bending, Raceways and Fittings, Conductors and Cables, Basic Electrical Construction Drawings, Residential Electrical Services and Electrical Test Equipment. Level 1 IBC#: 031 Certification in NCCER Electrician Level 1 demonstrates the student has basic electrician skills including Orientation to the Electrical Trade; Electrical Safety and Theory, Introduction to Electrical Circuits and National Electrical Code®, Device Boxes, Hand Bending, Raceways and Fittings, Conductors and Cables, Basic Electrical Construction Drawings, Residential Electrical Services and Electrical Test Equipment. Level 2 IBC#: 200 Certification in NCCER Electrical Level 2 shows the individual has demonstrated basic electrician skills including Altering Current, Motors: Theory and Application, Electric Lighting, Conduit Bending, Pull and Junction Boxes, Conductor Installations, Terminations, and Splices, Cable Tray, Grounding and Bonding, Circuit Breakers and Fuses and Control Systems and Fundamental Concepts. Level 3 IBC#: 201 Certification in NCCER Electrical Level 3 shows the individual has demonstrated electrician skills including identifying residential and commercial branch circuit requirements and loads, conductor selection and calculation, practical applications of lighting, hazardous locations, overcurrent protection, distribution components, transformers and motor connections. Level 4 IBC#: 202 Certification in NCCER Electrical Level 4 shows the individual has demonstrated electrician skills including load calculation – feeders and services, health care facilities, standby and emergencies stations, electronic theory, fire alarm systems, and advanced controls. This is a non-apprenticeship program model.

Prerequisites Description:

NCCER Core is a prerequisite for completion of all NCCER credentials (and all Helper pathways).Classes may be taught concurrently, but Level 1 or above credentials cannot be attained until NCCER Core has been successfully completed. NCCER Electrical Curriculum. Following completion of Level 1, higher levels may be attempted in sequential order.
