Program Description:

The Associate degree in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technology is the education and preparation of students for a career as an MRI Technologist/technician. The associate degree curriculum is designed to synthesize clinical and didactic experiences in Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technology, to instill a desire to excellence in practice, and to provide a foundation for academic and career advancement.

The following are the program objectives:

Build a foundation of knowledge and skills in the Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technology,
Learn theories, skills, and professional values for the MRI Technologists,
Learn the medical terminology, anatomy & physiology, healthcare laws & ethics for health sciences professionals,
Learn effective communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills,
Exhibit behavior consistent with the professional, ethical, and legal standards of allied health,
Learn patient care and safety processes, procedures, and protocols for health professionals,
Learn the basic quality control (QC) processes, procedures, and techniques in MRI Technology,
Demonstrate competencies relevant to MRI Technology,
Learn the components of the MR system hardware,
Learn the mechanism by which MR signal is produced and detected,
Learn conceptualize and explain spatial localization as well as MR image formation,
Learn magnetism with reasonable comfort and ability to use the subjective material to apply the principle of pulse sequences for appropriate clinical application in MRI Technology,
Learn to apply the imaging parameters & options available to the user for optimal MR imaging,
Learn to identify the tissue parameters that affect tissue contrast in MR imaging, and
Learn the clinical, technical, and ethical skills necessary to obtain entry-level employment in MRI imaging field

51.0920 Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technology/Technician A program that prepares individuals who are AART-certified radiological technicians to utilize MRI technology to obtain still and moving images of various vascular structures in the human body that aid the physician in the diagnosis or treatment of disease and injury. Includes instruction in MRI imaging, sectional anatomy and pathology, MRI technology, MRI techniques and procedures, MRI physics, and clinical training.

For admission in a distance education course or program, an applicant must complete the following additional distance education requirements prior to enrollment:

Pass (by scoring 70% or higher) the Distance Education Orientation Course (DEOC),

Complete and sign a Distance Education Assessment Form (DEAF),

FINANCIAL AID

Stellar Career College participates in federal and state financial aid programs. Students who are interested in obtaining financial aid will be advised of their options in the initial interview. Students who wish to apply for Direct Loans or Pell grants should make an appointment with Stellar Career College’s Financial Aid Officer. The Financial Aid Officer will assist the student in completing a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which will be submitted to the United States Department of Education. Eligibility for federal student aid will be based on current federal guidelines and determined solely by the Department of Education. If a student obtains a loan to pay for an educational program, the student will have the responsibility to repay the full amount of the loan plus interest, less the amount of any refund. If the student has received federal student financial aid funds, the student is entitled to a refund of the money not paid from federal student financial aid program funds. Students who participate in the Direct Loan program are required to receive advisement prior to the beginning of training and again prior to completion of their program of study. This advisement will be scheduled through and provided by the Stellar Career College Financial Aid Officer.
