A program that prepares individuals to apply technical knowledge and skills to join or cut metal surfaces. Develop entry level skills needed to obtain certification as a Structural Welder and Gas Metal Arc Welder. To produce high quality fillet and groove welds in all positions on various thickness metals up to 3/8 thick. Introductionwelding symbols. Upon successful completion of this program, the student will have passed at up to 15 tests as well as visual, guided bend tests. All AWS-Certifications will be proctored by a third party Certified Welding Inspector (CWI).Must have a minimum of 5 students and a maximum of 16 to hold the class. Class will be held 4 nights a week for 3 hours each class. Program will last 6 weeks. Tuition includes supplies, tool kit, lab fees and certification cost.
48.0508 Welding Technology/Welder A program that prepares individuals to apply technical knowledge and skills to join or cut metal surfaces. Includes instruction in arc welding, resistance welding, brazing and soldering, cutting, high-energy beam welding and cutting, solid state welding, ferrous and non-ferrous materials, oxidation-reduction reactions, welding metallurgy, welding processes and heat treating, structural design, safety, and applicable codes and standards.
High School Diploma or Equivalent
A High School/HSE Diploma required or must be enrolled in an HSED program.Steel toe or leather boots are required.
Two weeks prior to class start date.
