All instructors have education and experience in the field making them the subject matter experts including an Associate Degree in Medical Secretarial from St. Clar County Community College, Certification as an EKG Technician from NHA, Certified Medical Assisant from the AAMA, Certified Professional Coder from the AAPC, Certified Patient Care Technician/Assistant from the NHA, and Certified Phlebotomy Technician from the NHA.
Clinical Medical Assistants are multi-skilled allied healthcare professionals who work to administer medications, assist with minor procedures, record vital signs, take medical history, prepare patients and rooms for examinations, obtain laboratory specimens, provide patient education, and much more. Clinical Medical Assistants will largely or solely work alongside the physician in providing patient care but may also be called upon to take care of the nonmedical aspects of the practice by completing paperwork, filing records, handling insurance, performing billing and bookkeeping, answering phones, and more. A program that prepares individuals, under the supervision of physicians or laboratory scientists or technologists, to perform waived testing procedures (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments of 1988), phlebotomy, and other duties in support of laboratory teams. Includes instruction in clinical procedures, various laboratory tests, laboratory mathematics, computer technology, equipment operation and maintenance, sterilization and safety, communications skills, and interpersonal skills.
