A qualified faculty member in Healthcare Specialist meets all three of the following criteria: 1. Possesses an earned baccalaureate or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution; and 2. Has a minimum of 2 years directly related work experience; and 3. Holds certification or licensure in a health care discipline providing care or service directly to patients.
A program that prepares individuals, under the supervision of physicians, nurses, or other health care professionals, to perform medical office or facilities management services and perform one or more clinical allied health specialties. Includes instruction in health care management; medical office administration; medical law and regulations; training in one or more diagnostic, treatment, therapy, or laboratory specialties at the assistant level or above; and applicable professional standards and ethics. Students in the Healthcare Specialist program are able to study a wide variety of certification options, including Dementia Care, Phlebotomy Training, Personal Training, Pharmacy Technician, and more! Students receive clinical hands-on practice in actual healthcare settings, with a mix of classroom and time in the lab. For example, Pharmacy technician labs use actual state-of-the-art equipment; Phlebotomy students receive hands-on training with a 100 hour externship in an approved lab setting. The Technical Certificate in Clinical Support can be earned on the way to acquiring the Associate of Applied Science degree. Many available jobs require advanced education beyond the high school diploma. Technical Certificate programs provide education in conceptual and technical skills for specific occupations. The program content is designed to develop competency in the comprehension of general and technical skills. Certificate programs require mastery of basic reading, writing, mathematical and quantitative skills.
