Prepares the student for certification in Shielded Metal Arc (SMAW), Gas Metal Arc (GMAW) or Gas Tungsten Arc (GTAW) welding processes through study of the welding procedure and standards established by the American Welding Society (AWS). Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to: Read and interpret Welding Procedure Documentation (WPS) Explain the different destructive and non-destructive weld test Prepare welder qualifications test plate coupons according to the applicable test code Perform welder performance qualification test Identify weld defects and discontinuities found in weldments Interpret fillet weld sizes with a fillet weld gauge
