CATALOG DESCRIPTION: The Clinical Medical Assisting program is designed to prepare students to work in multiple healthcare settings. Medical assistants with a clinical background perform various clinical tasks to assist doctors, including administering medications and minor procedures, performing electrocardiogram (EKG) tests, obtaining laboratory specimens for testing, educating patients, and other related tasks. Job opportunities are prevalent in physicians' offices, clinics, chiropractors' offices, hospitals, and outpatient facilities.
Note: Classroom instruction occurs at the Ivy Tech Community College - Sellersburg location, and labs and externships occur within the Baptist Health System in Sellersburg. (Addresses vary based on activities, and students must have their own transportation.)
