Qualifications of Instructors:
5 years of extensive on the road driving experience and Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles Instructor Certification.Course Credential Standard: Credentials other than the program/discipline standard that may appropriately qualify one to teach a specific course. Examples might include a licensure, certification, specialty coursework, etc. specific to the single course.Professional Certification: A certificate by an external state, regional, national, or international agency that attests to significant breadth and depth of knowledge within a field of study.
Program Description:
160 hours of training which prepare the student to become a Class A Commercial Drivers License (CDL) holder. 121 hours of Operating observation/ lab/classroom, 30 hours of behind-the-wheel skill development.

49.0205 Truck and Bus Driver/Commercial Vehicle Operator and Instructor A program that prepares individuals to apply technical knowledge and skills to drive trucks and buses, delivery vehicles, for-hire vehicles and other commercial vehicles, or to instruct commerical vehicle operators. Includes instruction in operating gas, diesel, or electrically-powered vehicles; loading and unloading cargo or passengers; reporting delays or accidents on the road; verifying load against shipping papers; arranging transportation for personnel; and keeping records of receipts and fares.

Prerequisites Description:
Minimum age 18, DOT physical, negative drug screen, valid drivers license, acceptable driving history, satisfactory criminal background check, learners permit (Student must obtain at least three days prior to the start of class) drug testing (Drug testing, driving history and criminal background coordinated upon admission). English proficiency demonstrated through TOEFL exam if applicable.
