Associate of Science Degree in Nursing (ASN) and Practical Nursing (PN) Program Faculty Standard:A full- or part-time faculty member in the ASN or PN program must meet all of the following criteria:1. Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Registered Nurse and,2. Possesses a current, unencumbered Indiana Registered Nurse license, and3. The majority of faculty shall hold master’s degrees in nursing.4. Faculty with Bachelor’s degrees in nursing must meet ALL of the following requirements:a. Within one semester of initial appointment, must have a written academic plan of study for completion of a Master’s degree in nursing, andb. Provides ongoing documentation (each semester) demonstrating matriculation towards completion of a Master’s degree in nursing, andc. Continued employment of a person who does not hold a Master’s degree in nursing shall be contingent upon documented progress towards their approved academic plan.5. The Associate of Science in Nursing LPN to ASN transitional track program is designed to accommodate those Licensed Practical Nurses seeking educational mobility to the associate-degree level. As a graduate of the ASN Program, you will be eligible to apply to take the NCLEX-RN examination to become a Registered Nurse. You may seek immediate employment as a Nurse or choose to transfer your credits to a four-year institution offering a baccalaureate degree.
The Nursing program at Ivy Tech Community College is a selective admission program. When you apply to the College, you will be accepted into Healthcare Specialist Pre-Nursing program with a concentration in Nursing while you complete the prerequisite requirements.
The Nursing program accepts a limited number of students each year and there is a separate application process. Once admitted to the program, an Associate of Science in Nursing degree can be achieved in 4-5 semesters, or about two years.
LPN to ASN students must maintain a current, active, unencumbered Indiana Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license throughout the duration of the LPN to ASN program.

High school diploma or GED; completion of all sections of the Test of Essential Academic Skills V (TEAS V) test at "proficient" level or higher; successful completion (grade of C or higher) of ENGL 111-English Composition; minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 at the time of application; PSYC 101-Introduction to Psychology; APHY 101-Anatomy & Physiology I; and MATH 123 or Higher-Quantitative Reasoning; verification of current, unencumbered Indiana LPN license; transcript demonstrating PN degree completion.
Two (2) semesters prior to admission into program (start of 1st semester nursing courses). Fall admission - completed by the end of the previous spring semester. Spring admission - completed by the end of the previous summer semester. Summer admission - completed by the end of the fall semester.
