Program Description:

In Ivy Tech's Business Operations, Administration, and Technology Program, you'll learn the technical and interpersonal skills that will make you a key player in day-to-day operations. Not only will you cover basics of word processing, spreadsheets and databases, but you'll also study more advanced areas such as desktop publishing, developing skills that will move you to the top of a company's must-hire list. Programs are tailored for beginning, intermediate and advanced skill levels.Sample careers in this field: Administrative assistant, first line manager, legal secretary, software application specialist, Office Administration.

The Technical Certificate (TC) in Business Operations, Applications and Technology is a focused, directly applicable credential for immediate entrance into the workforce. This certificate program takes students into a deep dive of business subjects.

TC in Business Operations, Applications and Technology graduates must complete a total of 31 credit hours:

4 credit hours of General Education Core
- ENGL 111 English Composition | 3 credit hours
- IVYT 111 Student Success in University Transfer | 1 credit hour
27 credit hours of Professional Technical Core with courses including
- BOAT 105 Microsoft Word | 3 credit hours
- BOAT 121 Office Procedures and Team Dynamics | 3 credit hours
- BOAT 201 Emerging Technologies | 3 credit hours
- BOAT 216 Business Communications | 3 credit hours
- BOAT 218 Microsoft Excel | 3 credit hours

Successfully passing three of the five Microsoft Office exams will grant you the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Associate Certifcation.

Includes instruction in business communications, principles of business law, public relations, scheduling and travel management, secretarial accounting, filing systems and records management, conference and meeting recording, report preparation, office equipment and procedures, office supervisory skills, and professional standards and legal requirements.
