Qualifications of Instructors:
Accounting Program Standard: A qualified faculty member meets the program standard through one of four routes:1. Possesses an earned masters degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution in accounting; or2. Possesses an earned related or out-of-field masters degree, from a regionally accredited institution, with documented 18 post-secondary semester hours or equivalent of courses in accounting beyond the introductory principle(s) level; or3. Possesses an earned related or out-of-field masters degree, from a regionally accredited institution, with documentation in two or more of the following:? Professional certification (national, regional or state)? Two years of in-field professional employment? Documented evidence of teaching excellence, including date of award? Documentation of research and publication in the field? Documented relevant additional coursework beyond the bachelors degree, equivalent to 18 semester hours or equivalent subject matter coursework, CEUs, vendor, or military; or4. Possesses an earned bachelors degree in accounting, from a regionally accredited institution, with documentation in two or more of the following:? Possesses an earned masters or higher degree in accounting, from a regionally accredited institution; or2. Possesses an earned masters degree in a related business field from a regionally accredited institution with documented 21 post-secondary semester hours in Accounting
Program Description:
The accounting program at Ivy Tech is led by CPAs with nearly 30 years of practical accounting and tax experience. Students will have the opportunity to gain real-world accounting experience by participating with the VITA office, which is a student-led professional office that e-files federal and state tax returns for taxpayers free of charge. Students will also be able to get experience using the latest accounting software including QuickBooks and Sage 50, and we have partnerships with CPA firms across the state to give you even more exposure in the real-word. Students earn certification in Microsoft and the option to earn certification in QuickBooks. Displayed pricing is based on full-time enrollment.
