Program Description:
As the regional leader in Commercial Driver Training since 1991, Lake Land College has helped hundreds of men and women find employment in the trucking industry. Some of the benefits drivers receive include: -Job Stability -Bonus Plans -Health Life Insurance -Retirement Programs -Paid Vacations -Freedom Independence Our 160 hour program focuses on the safe and proper handling of semi-tractor-trailers in restricted areas and on public streets and highways. Students train in various traffic environments, gaining experience in common driving challenges under real-world driving conditions. Emphasis is placed on skills required to pass the Illinois Secretary of State Commercial Driver License written and road tests. Special Emphasis is placed on skills required to operate equipment safely and respond to changing roadway conditions, hazards and emergencies.

49.0205 Truck and Bus Driver/Commercial Vehicle Operator and Instructor A program that prepares individuals to apply technical knowledge and skills to drive trucks and buses, delivery vehicles, for-hire vehicles and other commercial vehicles, or to instruct commerical vehicle operators. Includes instruction in operating gas, diesel, or electrically-powered vehicles; loading and unloading cargo or passengers; reporting delays or accidents on the road; verifying load against shipping papers; arranging transportation for personnel; and keeping records of receipts and fares.
